Did you know that a legion of angels is 6,000 angels or more? The word legion is a military term that was used by the Roman army.  In the Garden of Gethsemane, Roman soldiers came to arrest Jesus.  With good intentions, Peter tried to defend Jesus with his sword. But Jesus stopped his disciple from fighting and said that if He wanted to, He could call on 12 legions of angels to help Him.  Although Jesus loved Peter, He did not need Peters help to fight His battles. He was saying to Peter “If I wanted to, I could have had 72,000 angels at my side, immediately, so please put down your defensive weapon.” (interpretation added)

Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? Matthew 26:53

Let’s think about that statement and break it down so we can better understand what Jesus was saying. First, how strong is one angel? Isaiah 37:36 tells us that one angel annihilated 185,000 men. So if Jesus had 12 legions of angels that could have defended Him, that would equal 72,000 angels. So if one angel could take down 185,000 men, that means these 12 legions of angels could have taken down 13,320,000,000 men!  That’s thirteen billion, three hundred and twenty million men. That’s no small takedown, right? When we ask God to send His angels before us, literally, we are asking for thousands of angels to back us up. Personally, I have seen two angels in my lifetime.  One that would stand in the doorway of my bedroom as a child, and one that I saw as an adult walking behind my husband as he was walking up to the bank.

This is my point, children of God, it is critical to put down our weapons of defense by trying to take on life’s troubles with our own strength.  God is for us, He is not against us.  He loves us so much that Jesus willingly gave His life for us. He could have allowed thousands of angels to take out His accusers, but He didn’t.  Jesus knew what must be done to save us and He willingly went to the cross as a sacrificial lamb on our behalf.  With this understanding, be confident that God is with you and that you have all the help you need. Depend on His strength to conquer any situation that tries to come against you.

You are very important to God and He is always working things behind the scenes. When you pray, expect that angels are moving into position to defend you. Maybe we can’t always see them with our natural eyes but in the spiritual, things are lining up and moving into place. Angels are waiting for their next assignment and angels respond to the written Word of God. Say what the Word says about your situation.

Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word. Psalms 103:20

When you need help, pray about the situation, give it to God and then trust the Lord. He will always work those things out for your good. Read 2 Cor 2:14. Our problems are no match for our God. He’s got your back even with your biggest, meanest and hateful adversaries.  Step out in faith and then watch as things unfold before you.

Prayer: Lord, I have tried to fight my battles by myself and I ask You to forgive me for not trusting You.  I know that You love me and that You have great plans for me; even in the middle of my struggles.  I ask that You send out Your angels to protect me.  And Holy Spirit, I ask that You guide me into all truth.  Give me the wisdom to know what to say when the time is right.  Thank You, for hearing my prayers Lord and for having my back.  I will not worry anymore about the things that have been trying to come against me.  I know that no problem is too big for You and that You are sending out Your angels to defend me.  My strength is in Your name, Jesus, I will not fear my enemy.  Thank You, Lord, for loving me.  I love you, too, Papa God. You are faithful and You are so good to me.

Angels are now moving into action. Now watch and see as God’s angel armies go before you. Can you visualize this happening in the spirit realm?  This is so exciting! Yay, Jesus!

Big hugs,
